The Sea Otter Classic was presented a great race that I had been looking forward to for quite awhile. I had a great time looking at the various booths in the expo and also enjoyed a fantastic day of racing on Sunday. On race morning I had a plate of scrambled eggs for breakfast and headed to Laguna Seca for the race. The weather was perfect, cool with a slight breeze. After completing my warm-up I headed to the start line. I was both excited and nervous at the same time. Once the race started however the nerves disappeared and I found myself in the lead so I decided to let up a little so that I wasn’t pulling everyone along. After a few miles of racing I was in the front group with four or five other riders. I felt great on the climbs however I found myself falling back a little on the descents due to not having had pre ridden the course. About half way through three people took off and I found myself riding alone. After a while I was with a group with two others in my race and Jake Yackle who was in the race that started a little before mine. A little after mile 20 Liam Woods and myself separated from the group. I was able to stay with Liam for a few more miles however he slowly began to pull away after descending hurl hill. I ended up finishing the race in 5th with a time of 1:53:30. Although I was glad to see the finish I was disappointed because I thought that I had four more miles of racing to try and catch up to Liam. Sea Otter was a great race and I had a great time racing and am looking forward to my next race.
